Quotations are hereby invited for the following: Conduct the investigation on the parameters that have exceeded the required limit from the Surface and Underground Water Monitoring (focus on Boreholes) at Vereeniging Pumping Station. The scope of work shall include: - Determine the sources of the elevated parameters in the surface and groundwater monitoring (Boreholes); - Taking sample, analyse and submit report with reason why other parameters are out of the recommended limit; - Sample should be taken only for boreholes, not storm water; - Seven (7) boreholes are to be sampled. Four (4) of the boreholes are located inside the Rand Water Vereeniging Premises, other Three (3) are outside the premises about 800 meters away; - Service provider is expected to conduct monitoring for 5 (Five) consecutive months on 7 (Seven) boreholes; - The number of Samples to be taken should be 5 per borehole for each sampling event; - One borehole should be sampled 5 times to allow for the adequate volume for analysis; - Meaning for a month, it will be 7x5 samples giving us a total of 35 samples in a month; - The average depth of each borehole is about 30 meters, and the diameter is about 15cm; - The parameters to be analyzed are as follows: pH, Conductivity EC, Calcium Ca, Magnesium Mg, Sodium Na, Potassium K, Chloride Cl, Sulphate SO4, Aluminum Al, Iron Fe, Manganese Mn, Nitrate NO3, Ammonia NH4, Ortho-phosphate PO4, Boron B, Cadmium Cd, Cobalt Co, Chromium Cr, Copper Cu, Molybdenum Mo, Nickel Ni, Lead Pb, Vanadium V, Zinc Zn, Fluoride F, Total Silica, Odour, Alkalinity, Chemical Oxygen Demand [COD (mg/l)] , Total Hardness, Oil and Grease, Total Dissolved Solids, Suspended Solids, Oils & Grease; - Analysis shall be done at a SANAS accredited Lab, and proof of accreditation shall be provided; - Advise if Rand Water"s activities and process are contributing towards the exceedances of those parameters; - Advise what might be the cause of the exceedance from those parameters; - Determine what parameters should be analysed or included in the monitoring programme; - Advise if the current sampling locations/points are sufficient; - The investigation shall be carried out by competent Geo-hydrologist or personnel with any other related qualification.
