Bids are hereby invited for the following: Appointment of a panel of service providers to conduct feasibility study for asbestos containing materials as per the requirements of the OHS Act 85 of 1993 (Asbestos Regulations) in all the National Parks. SANParks seeks to appoint a suitable qualified panel of service providers to perform Asbestos assessments as per the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and the Asbestos Abatement Regulations, 2022. Requirements for the Service Provider: • Conduct a risk assessment to determine the classification of asbestos-containing material. (i.e. blue, white, or brown asbestos, etc); • Subsequently when the quantification and classification assessment is completed to define the type of asbestos-containing material. (i.e., Type 1, 2, or 3) to be undertaken during the remedial work; • Develop feasible and cost-effective asbestos mitigation options and plans for each identified asset including prices for disposal of asbestos waste at registered hazardous landfill sites and estimate the total financial implications; • The assessments are to be conducted in line with but not limited to the applicable health and safety and environmental legislative requirements and standards; • Detail the conclusion and recommendations based on classification. The parks under the management of SANParks are divided into six regions: - Region: Arid: Upington: Kgalagadi, Augrabies, Richtersveld, Namaqua, Mokala, Meerkat; - Region: Cape: Cape Town: Table Mountain, Agulhas, West Coast, Tankwa Karoo, Bontebok; - Region: Garden Route: Knysna: Storms River Mouth (Tsitsikamma), Knysna Forests, Wilderness, Knysna Estuary; - Region: Frontier: Port Elizabeth: Addo, Camdeboo, Mountain Zebra, Karoo; - Region: North: Pretoria, Head Office: Golden Gate, Marakele, Mapungubwe; - Region: Kruger National Park: Skukuza: 35 Various Camps; - Region: Administrative: Groenkloof (Head Office).
