Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd (hereinafter “Eskom”) invites you to submit a tender for the following: Provision of corrosion treatment, sand blasting and painting service at various sites: Rotek TSS Enabling Contract. Scope: Corrosion Treatment and Painting of in service transformers and reactors for a period of 4 years, as and when required. Corrosion treatment and painting; site transformers and reactors: • Paint Preparation: Wash complete transformer and radiator bank with a water base degreaser and high pressure water; Loosen all cables and cable supports to perform proper surface preparation and corrosion treatment; Cover cable work to protect from overspray; Remove all bolted and riveted nameplates, indication plates and tags. Remove windows of Marshalling Kiosk; Replace window rubber after painting when windows are refitted. Replace all door seals; Remove radiator stiffeners, treat, paint and refit; Clean rusted areas on main tank, radiator banks, conservator tanks, Marshalling Kiosk, TDB and junction boxes, plug box and auxiliary transformer with wire brushes – all traces of loose material shall be removed; Bushing base flanges, aluminium tap changer head covers, galvanized parts and protective devices shall not be prepared for painting; Brass valves to be treated as requested by the Purchaser’s SOW in regards to painting; Note: Transformer fitted with galvanized radiators – do not paint or overspray. Remove powder deposits from previous paints with M3 Scotchbrite abrasive; Prepare areas on main tank, radiator banks, conservator tank, Marshalling Kiosk, TDB and junction boxes, plug box and auxiliary transformer – Surface preparation of metal surfaces; Mechanical wire-brushing or grinding. Measure paint thickness at various positions and record results; Before new painting takes place, random measurements must be taken on existing painting to determine the existing paint thickness in order to determine that new layers conform to the set specifications required; • Paint Application: Apply first coat / Primer – on all bare metal areas; Measure paint thickness on areas painted; Apply stripe coating - on all edges/holes; Inspect all edges for proper stripe coating; Apply second coat / Intermediate; Measure paint thickness; Apply final coat; Measure paint thickness; Remove cooling fan motor fan cover and properly prepare, paint and refit; Measure paint thickness after each application as specified above at various positions indicated below and record results: 1. Measurements to be taken top and bottom of the conservator tank on four positions; 2. Measurements on top of main cover on four random positions; 3. Measurements on all the turrets two random positions per turret; 4. Measure around the main tank on ten random positions; Refit cable brackets and fasteners; Secure all cables with 10 mm stainless steel strapping; Refit all bolted and riveted nameplates; Clean all bushings ensuring no overspray or spray dust on porcelain; Spray Bund Wall ladder on runway; Position Bund Wall ladder over Bund Wall; Wash complete transformer and radiator bank with water base degreaser and high-pressure water; Clean site; Complete daily activity report; Complete handing over certificate; Complete transformer work report; Deliver original transformer work report to ERI.
